Interlibrary Loan: Frequently Asked Questions

ILL is for use by students, faculty, and staff of Haverford College. For information on E-ZBorrow, navigate here.

How do I submit a request?

The easiest way is to click on the spacer button as you explore various electronic resources, such as WorldCat, etc. If you already have a citation, feel free to fill out either an article request form or a books and more request form.

Who is eligible to use Interlibrary Loan?

Actively enrolled students, active faculty and staff, and emeritus faculty are eligible to use Interlibrary Loan to request items from libraries outside of the Tri-College system. These items include books, videos, CDs, DVDs, microforms, journal articles, book chapters, and more.

Is there a limit to the number of requests I can make?

Absolutely not!

How long does Interlibrary Loan take?

Articles often arrive within 24 hours, and usually books and more arrive within five to ten business days (depending upon proximity of lending library).

How do I get my Interlibrary Loan items when they arrive?

Articles are generally sent to you by email. For books and more, you are notified when your item is available for pick up at the circulation desk in Magill.

How long can I keep my Interlibrary Loan items?

Each lending library sets its own policy on due dates and renewals. Some libraries do not grant renewals, and that will be indicated on the item borrowed. If you want to request a renewal, contact the Interlibrary Loan office BEFORE the book is due.

What are the fines on Interlibrary Loan items?

Fines for overdue interlibrary loan items are $1.00/day. Please return items promptly when due to avoid jeopardizing our borrowing privileges with the lending library.

Can I borrow disserations and theses?

Yes, however many dissertations and theses in the social sciences and humanities are available through Proquest.
