Defendmyname.com spamming forums

by Brian Turner

There are a number of Online Reputation Management (ORM) companies out there – you’ll hardly ever notice most of them in action.

However, defendmyname.com claims to be able to help protect brands, and showcases a number of big brands, as if implying that this is a high end company that knows what they’re doing.

Instead, I found someone from defendmyname.com spamming the Internet Business forums, trying to put up posts about lavoramarketing – who doesn’t have much good press on Google.

ORM I can appreciate – but if you ever find a company trying to spam forums with ads, that’s not ORM.

If you do work with a ORM, get them to show examples of what sort of work you can expect to get from them.

The danger is, like a lot of so-called SEO companies, you just end up with a campaign run by a clueless intern who can actually damage your brand instead.

That is, of course, presuming that defendmyname.com actually offers any real professional ORM solutions. :)

Bottom line is – be careful who you work with. For all internet marketing campaigns, you want experienced people with a professional understanding of the industry looking after your interests.

Otherwise, you could find yourself working with a company who damages you further.

Discuss this in the Internet Business forums

    Dear Mr Turner!

Obviously you are a sore competitor. First of all we do represent many big name companies! Who do you represent.

This forum in not your property and our clients have the right to have posts placed for them on all websites online for ORM.

We provide a very professional appraoch! We dont use duplicate content, we create organic domains and use whitehat search engine optimization techniques.

Who do you represent and what makes you any authority on it. I would be very careful what you write as I can guarantee you will find yourself in litigation!

The only one damaging anyone is you!

“This forum in not your property and our clients have the right to have posts placed for them on all websites online for ORM.”

The forum *is* my property, and my company reserves the right of editorial judgement.

In the meantime, if your sole tactic is to demand the right to spam forums, then it shows what a poor service you’re offering.

“I would be very careful what you write as I can guarantee you will find yourself in litigation!”

Bring it on – I’m sure more people would be more interested to know exactly what you’re doing. :)

Thank you Brian for calling out a spammer. They give legitimate SEO companies a bad name. It makes us look unprofessional to have others in our industry doing this. Second, their tactics often get quick results at a low price, so their customers think this tactic works. Until google finds out about it, but by then the customer thinks all SEO should be this cheap. Keep up the good work Brian!
