Northeast Region Winner - Diane Harris
"I would like to thank CampusRN.com and all the members of the CampusRN. community that have made this opportunity possible for nursing students like myself to further our educational careers. As I said in my essay it truly does "take a village" of supportive colleagues to create these unique opportunities that allow the waves of current and future nurses to excel in the field of nursing. To be recognised by others in the nursing community is an honor and I plan to use this scholarship to continue financing my education so that I can not only meet the demands of profession once I graduate but begin my mission of creating solutions for addressing the healthcare disparities that affect my community. I've always said that as a future health care professional my greatest goal was to provide compassionate, skilled care and make a difference in people's lives and this scholarship will be a great assistance in allowing me to do just that."
Southeast Region Winner - Tamara Pluviose
"It has been challenging to find the funds to pay for school, being that I am pursing a second bachelor’s degree. Funding opportunities are much more limited, generally being restricted to loans, out-of-pocket payments, and scholarships. The Campus RN Scholarship will aid in helping me to pay for the cost of tuition that is not covered by my financial aid for the summer semester and additionally to help pay for books and any other expenses related to the nursing program. Thank you Campus RN!"
Mountain Region Winner - Landry Salami
"Being selected as the winner of the CampusRN Scholarship in the Mountain region has shown me one more time that America is where every dream comes true when you are willing to work for it and sacrifice for it. This scholarship has come at a critical moment of my life. It will help me pay for my tuition for the fall semester and some of my books, so I do not have to work two jobs to pay them. I was raised by my great grandparents since I was ten months old, and I remember them always telling me when I was growing up that whoever helps you take a step forward in becoming a better person in your life, you never let them down. You just did that and I promise not to let you down.
I know you did not do this just for Landry Salami to go to school and get a nursing degree, but because you care about the people of our community and think they deserve more nurses and a better health care. On behalf of the people of the people of New Mexico, the Santa Fe Community College Nursing Department, and myself I want to thank the CampusRN Scholarship Program Committee and all its members for helping me take a step toward my dream, the dream of a little boy with a funny name who believe there is a place on earth called America where his dream can come true. May God bless you all and bless the United States of America. "
South Central Region Winner - Paula A. Stangeland
"I am honored to be one of the recipients of the CampusRN Scholarship. Thanks to your generous support I will be able to complete my studies and complete my dissertation with less financial burden.
I will be taking comprehensive finals August 13, 2009 in order to move to the dissertation phase of my education. My plans at this stage are to complete a PhD with a focus in Nursing Education at UTMB in Galveston, TX. This scholarship will go a long way in helping me to pay tuition, fees and buy books for the upcoming semester.
I cannot begin to tell you the many ways your scholarship will assist me as I pursue my educational and career goals. I am extremely grateful for your support. Thank you again."
Pacific Region Winner - Kristen Shi
"I am very excited and honored to be chosen for this scholarship, especially given the financial state of public education. This year, I will be experiencing a 14% increase in tuition which has definitely increased the stress in trying to figure out how to deal with the financial burden. This scholarship will relieve some of this stress and allow me to focus more on my studies as an infectious disease adult nurse practitioner. I hope to serve a low-income,inner city clinic in the future, and eventually be able to use my knowledge and skills to serve others internationally."
Midwest Region Winner - Jordan Kester
