Colorado > Castle Rock Half Marathon, 5-Mile & Rock Challenge

Just far enough from the city to retain the small town atmosphere but still close enough that you never feel deprived, Castle Rock is a gem along the Front Range. Desiring to share its ample and beautiful parks, untouched open space and breath taking trails with locals and new comers alike, the Town of Castle Rock is excited to present the 2nd annual half marathon distance race to be run in the town.
The race begins in historic downtown Castle Rock and runs right by the iconic Rock, for which our town was named (unless you simply can't help yourself and must discover what the view from the top is like, then be sure to sign up for the Rock Challenge!)
After a brief tour through the Castle North Park neighborhood, runners will escape onto newly constructed trails that join with the picturesque East Plum Creek Trail where the bulk of the race will be run. Surrounded by wildlife and natural riparian habitats, runners will be able to catch glimpses of the Rock through the shady cottonwood trees to gauge their finish distance on their way back toward downtown where the finish line and post-race expo await.
The five-mile race incorporates the best parts of the half marathon but cuts the distance and the Rock Challenge will test your toughness and sense of adventure by adding the steep ascent and descent to the top of the Rock and down to the 5 mile distance (this run is not for the faint of heart!). With a little something for everyone, this race promises to become a fast favorite.
