The High Performance Storage System (HPSS) consists of new tape libraries with storage capacity of more than 160 petabytes at the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) and another 15 petabytes of disaster-recovery data storage at the Mesa Lab in Boulder.
These scalable, robotic systems comprise four StorageTek SL8500 tape libraries. File metadata are maintained in DB2, IBM's real-time database system.
Scheduled preventive maintenance periods are Tuesdays from 7 to 9 a.m. Mountain time.
Consult our Resource Status page for information about how to receive status updates automatically.
