Youth Service America recognizes young people, ages 5-25, who serve their community through the following award programs.
The Harris Wofford Award, presented by Youth Service America and proudly sponsored by State Farm Companies Foundation, were established in 2002 to honor former Senator Harris Wofford, one of our nation's greatest public servants and long-time board member of Youth Service America. Following Wofford's goal of "making service and service-learning the common expectation and the common experience of every young person on America," the awards recognize extraordinary achievements in four categories: Youth, Organizations, Media, and Public Officials.
As a Certifying Organization of the President's Volunteer Service Award, YSA distributes the PVSA to those who meet or exceed the award criteria. Established in 2003, the PVSA is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of 12 months.
YSA features an Everyday Young Hero each week in the National Service Briefing.
Through the Get Ur Good On program, YSA also recognizes YSA Service Stars with awards, including concert tickets and meet-and-greets with celebrities. YSA Service Stars are chosen from PVSA recipients, Everyday Young Heroes, YSA grantees, and active members of the Get Ur Good On social network.
