The mission of the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Biomedical Engineering is to educate students to be significant contributors in health care,research, and development in biomedicine and bioengineering.

The curriculum links technical fundamentals in science, engineering and the life sciences in combination with team building,societal and ethical issues, and communication and leadership skills.
