NY Mouth: Grin And Beer It This St. Patrick’s Day

We’re big fans of holidays- especially when the holiday revolves around parades and safe consumption of alcoholic beverages. St. Patrick’s Day is coming up shortly- this weekend in fact. And on Sunday, March 17th 2013, we hope you’ll enjoy the Irish festivities. Remember that the big annual parade is being held on Saturday instead, starting at around 11 AM. But you’re such a big fan of beer that you’d like it in various food as well- or if you don’t like it that much, but simply want to hop on the bandwagon- then today’s gift bag is for you.

Specialty indie food group extraordinaire NY Mouth has a perfect gift bag: Grin and Beer It. We previously checked in with them, after trying their delightful Autumn in New York sampler. This time around, they’ve chosen a completely different group of local companies that use brews in their treats. At $55, and nicely packaged, it’s a perfect gift for an officemate, or just the thing to help you celebrate Spring. As they say: “Beer pickles? Check. Beer-y pretzels? Check. And you cannot even talk about beer (or Ireland) without a nod to Guinness, so we’ve included Wondermade’s genius Guinness marshmallows. All beer, all the time. Zero hangover.”

We loved the aforementioned marshmallows and Beer Caramel pretzels from Roni-Sue, and the pickles as well (Hop-Pickle from Brooklyn Brine). The Spiced Beer Jelly from Brooklyn Anarchy took us by surprise, and earned rave reviews from testers, who sampled it on top of the mild but decent set of crackers (Flats from Daelia’s, Biscuit Crackers from American Vintage). And if that wasn’t enough, the Pale Ale Beef Jerky from Slant Shack is certainly a perfect pairing (it sounded slightly better than it was, sadly). And finally, if you’d like a little Italian twist, the Sfoglini Pale Ale Radiators Pasta was just crazy enough to work- though we wish there was a beer-based pasta sauce that would make a great topping. It’s hearty and savory, with just a little sweetness, and a lovely distinctive color and shape.

This bag, along with many others, is available (seasonally) from NY Mouth. Taste some of NY’s best, without having to shop all over the city.
