Anonymous Elegance Theme

spacer

I’ve gone back to basics with this one. I wanted something simple and elegant to serve as a basic blog template and I think I’ve accomplished that with this theme. I hope you like it as much as I do.

It’s a very clean 2 Column theme with one sidebar on the left side, widget-ready fixed width theme sporting a basic elegance featuring pretty mauve and pinkish colors. It has an author info page, gravatars and author box along with Custom Archives, Sitemap and full width No Sidebars page templates. Tested in Firefox, Opera, Safari, IE6 and IE7. Compatible up to WordPress 2.7. And yes, it’s valid XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1 right out of the box.

You have some lovely themes, but if I might make a suggestion it would be to increase the font size of the posts. Many people find smaller fonts difficult to read.

I love this theme and would love to use it on my site to make it – softer, but the demo i downloaded looks different to this, plus the font is very hard to read colorwise. Is it possible to go to white font or a darker one? thanks, nice work!

Jane – Thank you for the suggestion, I do appreciate feedback. And I’m always happy to help someone who wants to make changes to any of my themes. I am currently working on a new theme that does incorporate larger font sizes. I started out creating themes in a format I was most comfortable in and now am branching out so to speak. So yeah, I hear ya! spacer

Debb – You said the theme you downloaded is different? Can you give me some details on how it’s different?

As for your question about the font color, it most certainly can be changed. Exactly what did you want changed? I’ll gladly help but I need a little more information.

    Hi Mina.

I really like this theme, it’s very elegant and simple.
I’m currently using it for my portfolio site, but I wonder, if it is possible to remove the border around smileys, or do I have to remove smileys from the posts?

A lot of people doesn’t get a “text-smiley”, so I would rather keep them, but I’m not sure how to get rid of the thick border.

Thank you for a great theme spacer

    Best wishes,

    Anita

That worked like a charm. Thank you very much.

I’m sorry, but now I have another question. Just realized it yesterday, after I had already written here. In some pages, like categories (or archive, which I have removed for now), there is some strange text.

You can take a look here:
    soelver.dk/category/bellasara/

    It starts with: “Project-Id-Version”
It’s in every post, before and after the post. I would like to be more technical to help you understand, but I’m not very skilled in WP yet spacer

It is relatede to the theme. It isn’t there, when I try to activate the default theme.

Hope you know what’s causing this spacer

Thank you in advance, and thanks for the help on the smiley – that was a quick fix.

I simply love this theme. Thank you very much:-)
But I have a question. How can I insert my own picture as a banner? Or for that matter, use on of yours? For now, mine is totally black. I will not change it for now. Incase you want to see how your theme looks like from my version of WP.

Here is my løink it. I hope you can have a look at it, and tell me how I can ad my own banner.

And as you will see, its totally different from this blog, around the layout stuff. Do you use plugins or anything to adjust the layout to something like this?

I also forgot to mention, I use WP version 2.7

    Hi Mina,
just doing my first steps in WP, and I liked your theme.
I downloaded and installed and got

    Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    Anonymous Elegance Template is missing.

    Did I do something wrong?

Hi, I’m having the same problem, having downloaded from the official wordpress themes site. It’s such a beautiful theme, it’s really sad I can’t get it to work. There’s index.php.tmp = 0kb, and no page.php. WordPress give this message:

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    Anonymous Elegance Template is missing.

    Hey Anita,

Sorry about the smiley border…totally an oversight on my part. To get rid of the border go into style.css and somewhere in there add this code:

    .post .wp-smiley { border: none; }

    That should do it! spacer

    Anita,

Yeah, that’s an issue that rears it’s ugly head when translation files are used. I will email the modified files to you.

    Irene,

To add your own header image go into Admin >> Appearance >> Editor >> style.css and find this line:

    .header { background: #000 url(images/header.jpg) no-repeat; px; px; margin: 10px 10px 0 10px; padding: 0; }

You see where is says url(images/header.jpg) no-repeat, just upload your own image (keeping with the 980px wide X 200px high size) and either name it header.jpg or change that line to reflect the name of your image.

I’m not sure what you mean by it being different than this blog.

If you are referring to the colors and layout here on The Cloisters it’s because I’m using a modified version of the Wasteland theme here and you’re using Anonymous Elegance. Totally different themes.

Thank you very much for explaining it for me:-) So now I can go ahead and create a banner. Thats great. About the differenses in the layouts, you got me right. I thought you used the same themes, but perhaps with som plugins for details. I dont know much about this stuff yet. I just started a few days ago. Thank you very much for your reply. And also the themes. I love them spacer

    Bruno,

It’s possible that the download was corrupt. Try downloading it again and make sure you only download it from the Official WordPress Theme Directory. Then upload the entire directory to your server.

If it happens again and you’re still having problems, could you email me the zip file you downloaded?

  28. spacer Bruno says:
    February 16, 2009 at 10:01 am

used your link, from there via link to WordPress Theme Directory,
then in sidebar Anonymous Elegance selected and on that page the download button.
Looks all pretty official to me.
the downloaded file I unpacked, and sent it via FTP to the server. All files in the previously created directory had the same size and date.

    I noticed a file index.php.tmp with size 0.
    And no index.php.

Just to practise theme installation, i took another one (clod clutter), that worked fine.

To which adress do you want the zip?

  29. spacer Mina says:

Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with that. Every once in a while this happens then everything is fine. I just downloaded it myself and it’s messed up.

I’m emailing you a zip file of the theme from my archives. You shouldn’t have any problems with this one.
