APR| EVERYWHERE!
Distracted Driving Awareness Month is a very important time for us here at Text Kills. It serves as the perfect backdrop for the work that we are doing, which is far from finished. Despite all of the facts and statistics out there that prove over and over that distracted driving is the most dangerous thing you can do behind the wheel, people are still texting and driving– and dying needlessly as a result.
We encourage everybody to use National Distracted Driving Awareness Month as an opportunity to take the pledge not to text and drive. Your life, and the lives of others, could depend on it!
National Distracted Driving Awareness Month was introduced as a resolution in 2010 by former Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO) and passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in a 410-2 vote on March 23, 2010. The resolution mentions 9-year-old Erica Forney, who was struck and killed by a distracted driver in Fort Collins, CO, in November 2008. Erica’s mother, Shelley Forney, is a founding board member of Focus Driven – Advocates for Cell-free Driving.

The whole crew will be present for this occasion, including Rally the Text Kills® RC Racer and Swerve! the Text Kills® Gorilla and Mascot. Our presentation will include interactive driver simulations, as well as the providing of educational materials and live discussions.
The first event with SDG&E and Sempra Energy took place on Septe, ber 21st, 2012 at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. The day progressed as a casual get-together for employees to both relax away from their normal workplace while obtaining the required safety information their company requires.
