The human mind remains an unparalleled engine of innovation and discovery, but individuals are fundamentally limited in the speed and amount of information they can process.

My lab's research focuses on augmenting human cognition using crowds and computation. We study and build social computing systems that combine the flexibility of many human minds working together with the raw power of computational systems to accelerate learning, innovation, knowledge production, and scientific discovery.

I am a co-founder of DataSquid, a revolutionary data visualization platform that uses real-world physics bring data to life, letting people sift, sort, stack and stratify data with their fingers. It provides intuitive and powerful tools that work the way the real world works, using razors, lenses, collision, gravity, and magnets to help people find overlooked trends and undervalued opportunities. By bringing the power of touch and physics to data visualization, DataSquid empowers people to unlock the true value of their data.
