  • ELDP awarded $11 million by Arcadia .
    The Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP) has been awarded a new grant of $11 million by the Arcadia Fund. The grant is a renewal of the original donation Arcadia gave to SOAS in 2002, which resulted in the inception of ELDP.

  • British Council Research Links workshop -- applications close 7th November.
    Applications are invited by 7th November from UK-based early career researchers (currently enrolled PhD students or those who have recently completed a PhD) for a workshop on "Documenting and preserving indigenous languages: principles, practices and tools", Bangkok, Thailand 8-14th February 2015.     MA student Ellen Foote has been awarded a Wolfson scholarship for a PhD on 'Yangon Burmese Sign Language - How does Sociolinguistic Variation Affect Signed Discourse and Language Ideologies?' and Soung-U Kim has been awarded an AHRC Doctoral Scheme fees only scholarship to work on 'A corpus-based description and multi-modal documentation of Jeju, an endangered language of South Korea'.
