Following the rapturous reception of George Benjamin's second opera Written on Skin at the Festival Aix-en-Provence last summer, Friday 8th March sees the British premiere at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.  With a text by the playwright Martin Crimp, with whom he collaborated so successfully on Into the Little Hill, and directed by Katie Mitchell, Written on Skin has already been widely praised as a masterpiece.

There are further performances on 11, 16, 18 and 22 March 2013.  Written on Skin is a co-commission by Netherlands Opera, Theatre du Capitole Toulouse, Royal Opera House, and Maggio Musicale, Florence.
