Arizona-based Spindle, Inc., has acquired Denver-based MeNetwork, a location-based mobile marketing solutions provider, in a deal announced late last week. The mobile payments solution company bought MeNetwork for $10.85 million, according to Capital IQ.
Spindle will fold MeNetwork’s mobile advertising technology into its own payments platform, in an effort to create a start-to-finish mobile commerce environment. Currently, MeNetwork provides location-based marketing, including offers, events, goods and services to merchants in 84 American markets, as well as 20 markets in Europe.
“Our partners will now be able to offer merchants a turnkey, full-featured, mobile commerce service that identifies and satisfies consumers looking to find the best offers and events in their immediate location,” said Bill Clark, president of Spindle, according to a press release. “Additionally, the combined platform will provide a direct interaction between merchants and their customers. This will result in increased sales, customer loyalty, and simplify the use of mobile commerce between buyers and sellers."
Moving forward, users will have the ability to “subscribe” to their favorite merchants and categories, meaning they’ll only see content that interests them. Also, customers will now be able to use Spindle’s payment application to buy good, redeem loyalty points and access event tickets and receipts.
