Rury Holman is the Director of the University of Oxford Diabetes Trials Unit and Honorary Consultant Physician to the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust. He is an NIHR Senior Investigator, the founding Academic Chairman of the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), and the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre theme leader for diabetes.

Professor Holman divides his time between clinical care of patients, teaching and his many research interests. He has designed and run many multicentre studies that focus primarily on the prevention, appropriate treatment and cardiovascular risk reduction in type 2 diabetes. He is one of the most cited authors in diabetes, with over 10 papers exceeding 1,000 citations. Currently he is Joint Chair of TECOS and EXSCEL, and Chief Investigator of the ACE and UKPDS trials.



Dualities of Interest


Professor Holman has, in the last twelve months: received research support from Amylin, Bayer, Merck and Novartis; attended advisory boards with Amylin, Lilly, Merck, Novartis and Novo Nordisk; and given lectures supported by Bayer, Lilly, Merck and Merck Serono.
