Help Stop the Garden Parkway

The proposed 22-mile Gaston East-West Connector would connect the Charlotte outer beltway I-485 with rural southern Gaston County in North Carolina.  If built, this new highway would:

  • increase congestion on I-85, further degrading the Charlotte region’s air quality
  • displace 348 households, 37 businesses, two churches and would impact 25 neighborhoods
  • impact 882 acres of forest, fragment wildlife habitat and impact over eight miles of streams

The Charlotte region continues to be plagued with air pollution problems affecting the health of our residents. As we work to improve the quality of life in North Carolina, the one thing we don’t need is a major highway bursting through our rural countryside increasing vehicle emissions and sprawl.

Please tell your legislators to support House Bill 10 to stop the Garden Parkway’s funding.
