Ang Lee To Direct his first TV project – FX’s new series “Tyrant”
Oscar-winning director Ang Lee is jumping from film to TV, announcing that he will make his directorial debut in the pilot episode of FX’s new series “Tyrant.”
“Tyrant” follows an all-American family caught in the middle of a Middle Eastern country’s problems. It marks the Taiwanese director’s first project since winning his second Oscars for the 2012 film “Life of Pi,” after his win for the 2006 cowboy romance film “Brokeback Mountain.” Other credits to Ang’s name include Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Sense and Sensibility and Hulk.
FX president John Landgraf said in a statement: “Ang Lee has demonstrated time and again ability to present characters with such depth and specificity that they reveal the universal human condition.”
Homeland’s Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff will serve as executive producers. Shooting for the FX pilot begins this summer.
