Alexandria and Aswan Humanitarian Mission

In November 2013 volunteer surgeons at the university of Alexandria operated on more than 70 patients affected by cleft palate and cleft lip in Alexandria and Aswan. The for the patient free-of-cost surgeries were made possible by the organization Smile Train.

He learned the art of printing in a monastery for 15 years since he was 15. Today Gianni is a celebrity visited by celebrities and known worldwide creating Ex Libris, business cards, stationary items for celebrities such as Eliott Erwitt, Hugh Grant, Ben Affleck.

The One Millionth Patient

Six-year old Osawa from Tanzania is affected by cleft lip. He happens to be the one-millionth patient operated by the NGO Smile Train. He was operated at the CCBRT Hospital in Dar es Salaam in February 2014 by Dr. Edward Wayi. Eight months later, Osawa has gone from being very shy and unhappy, to a confident, happy and very social child. Documentary assignment for the Charity Smile Train Inc. (USA).

Mille Miglia – Historic Race through Italy

The Mille Miglia was an open-road endurance race which took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957. Since 1977, the historic race has been reborn as a regularity race for classic and vintage cars. Participation is limited to cars which had attended or were registered to the original race. The route from Brescia to Rome and return, is similar to that of the original race, with departure and arrival in Viale Venezia in Brescia. Assignment for Team Adiemme, Italy.

Besides documenting the work of the “Loctite Charlies” – a team who supports the competitors with any kind of car, motorbike and truck reparation, I had the chance of meeting many people on the road. The Water of Life

The water cycle of the Okavango Delta in Botswana is one of the most interesting natural phenomena still not completely understood. During the flood peaks between June and August, the delta swells to three times its permanent size and attracts animals from hundreds of kilometers around, creating one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife.

Smile Train Mission in Kachin, Burma

In June 2014 the non-profit organization Smile Train completed its first surgeries in the state of Kachin, Burma (Myanmar). A small medical team from India led by surgeons Dr. Jaideep Signh Chauhan and Dr. Pritham Shetty and helped by local doctors and nurses, completed 97 surgeries in under a week at the Myitkyina General Hospital.

In 2009 a ten-year genetic lineage study revealed that the Kalahari Bushmen (aka San) are the closest relatives of the first human beings on Earth. They are the direct descendants of the first Homo Sapiens Sapiens. They are the wisdom keepers of the oldest spiritual culture and and religion of Mankind. Their culture and tradition is inevitably and rapidly fading away as a result of globalization.

Cataract Blindness in Nepal

Not far away from the holiest site in Nepal, the Pashupatinath temple, where Hindus cremate the bodies of their deceased relatives, a small group of ophthalmologists, surgeons and nurses try to make a difference. They dedicate their lives to alleviating blindness in Nepal and the Himalayan region.
