About the VSA
Mission Statement
The VSA shall serve, represent, and promote the interests and welfare of the students of Vassar College. It shall encourage student representation and involvement in college decision-making and shall strive to enhance the quality of life and education for the students of Vassar College. It shall represent the opinions of the student body, serving as a communications conduit to the Faculty, Administration, Trustees, Alumnae/i, the local community and beyond. The VSA shall also sponsor, support, and be responsible for student organizations.Meet the Executive Board

Much of the VSA's work is done in various committees. These committees discuss various issues dealing with campus, student, and academic life. All meetings (except for Finance) are open to all students.

Academics: Wednesdays, 8p.
Activities: Thursdays, 9p.
Finance: Wednesdays, 3:30p.

FIELD WORK
Offered by most departments for academic credit, field work enables students to examine the way the theories and the practical experiences of a particular discipline interact. It provides opportunities for observation and participation which are not ordinarily available in classwork. 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM - Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center Temporary Exhibition Galleries The daguerreotype, the earliest successful photographic technique, was introduced in France in 1839 by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, and was exported to the United States later that year. Through the Looking Glass brings together a comprehensive collection of nearly 150 daguerreotypes from America, France, England, and the Middle East, and features subject matter as diverse as landscapes, architectural studies, occupationals, post-mortem images, and portraiture. The exhibition offers a window into history as captured by the cutting-edge imaging technology of the day. All the works are generously lent from the collection of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg. - Embodying Compassion in Buddhist Art: Image, Pilgrimage, Practice
10:00 AM to 9:00 PM - Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center Project Gallery Embodying Compassion in Buddhist Art is the first transcultural exhibition in America solely devoted to the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who emerged from ancient India to become an exemplar of unbiased benevolence throughout Asia. Known as Chenrezig in Tibet, Guanyin in China, and Kannon in Japan, this figure has inspired some of the most beautiful images in the history of Buddhist art. The exhibition reveals the inspired artistry and profound meanings that underlie Avalokiteshvara’s many rich and varied manifestations. - Band Practice (Event canceled)
