For all the benefits of participating in the sharing economy that has been touted by free culture advocates, including myself, the surprising result of ccMixter is that it provides evidence indicating the most compelling argument yet: free-wheeling participation in a commons makes the art better. I don't have a research assistant or literary editor and it shows. I wish I was a better writer because the story of ccMixter and what it brings to life is fascinating to me and I hope to a few other folks as well.
