About Richard

spacer Winner of the BBC Writersroom Get a Squiggle On children’s TV writing competition, Richard is currently Head Writer on Maya Digital Studios's new series EENA MEENA DEEKA, as well as writing for new animated show GO JETTERS and the BBC’s BAFTA Award-winning TREE FU TOM.

He has a track record in project development, and was recently brought in to work on Mind Candy’s MOSHI MONSTERS TV series.

Richard is also developing several of his own ideas for TV, including children’s live action fantasy drama NEVER AFTER and primetime crime drama, MURDER OF CROWS; while his pre-school series ELF STACKERS is currently under consideration with CBeebies.

A judge for the Children’s BAFTA Awards, Richard also writes prose, scripts and comics for many media properties including MGM's STARGATE, the BBC's DOCTOR WHO and Mind Candy's WORLD OF WARRIORS. He has adapted the SHERLOCK HOLMES stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – including THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES – for CD release.

Richard is a member of the Writers Guild of Great Britain and the Royal Television Society. He is represented by Alison Finch at JFL Agency.

Richard has been chosen as the Head Writer on a new TV series coming soon from Maya Digital Studios (the company behind the animation for Noddy and Octonauts). Richard is preparing 26 episodes of 21 minutes! More news as soon as more is made public.

CHILDREN'S MEDIA CONFERENCE

 Richard is pleased to announce that he will be producing a session at this year's Children's Media Conference. He has assembled a panel of experts to discuss the importance (or otherwise) of transmedia in a new children's media project. Among the experts on his panel are TV legends Phil Ford (Wizards Vs Aliens, Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who) and Tony Reed (Storymakers, The Furchester, et al).

RiICHARD ASKED TO BE BAFTA JUDGE

Richard is honoured and delighted to announce that he is acting as a judge for this year's Children's BAFTA Awards. The judging took place in the early Autumn and culminated in a glittering ceremony at the London Hilton. Visit the BAFTA website for more.
