Description:
Have you ever thought of how to communicate in the ocean? It is a challenge issue since cellular phone technology (wireless radio frequency communication) does not work in seawater. However, there is a strong need to transmit images and data in the ocean for the survey and management of the ocean resources, which are critical to the societies around the globe. We have been developing high speed underwater modems in the ocean, through the use of acoustic waves. We foresee that this emerging technology enable an underwater internet in the ocean.
If you know about basics of programming/digital communication theories and are interested in the ocean and ocean technologies, I invite you to visit our laboratory for a preview to the ocean research.
