What does it cost to see the exhibits?
MoCNA’s admission rates are $10 for adults; half-price for seniors (62+), students w/ valid ID, and NM residents; and free for members, Native people, veterans and their families, youth (16 & under), and NM residents visiting on Sunday. How can I get on the mailing list to receive MoCNA program information?
Become a member to receive our tri-yearly E-news publication highlighting exhibitions, programs and special member events happening at MoCNA throughout the year. Members are automatically signed up to receive the most up-to-date information on what is happening at MoCNA. When you become a member, please be sure to provide us with your email address to ensure that you get access to special member events and benefits. What kind of tours do you offer?
Individual guided tours of most exhibitions are available on request and based on availability; please inquire at the admissions desk. MoCNA offers guided and unguided group tours for educational, traveler and corporate groups; group tours must be arranged at least two weeks prior to arrival. Please call 505.428.5907 or emaill groups@iaia.edu to arrange your group tour.

Is it all right to bring a water bottle into the galleries?
Food and drink of any kind (including water bottles) are prohibited in the exhibit galleries.
Does the museum allow videotaping or photography?
MoCNA does not allow videotaping inside the museum. Non-flash photography is allowed only in the Museum Store, Lloyd Kiva New Gallery, North and South Courtyards, and Allan Houser Art Park and not within exhibition galleries, unless otherwise noted. Flash photography is prohibited at all times. Tripods are not permitted inside the museum.
Is it all right to use my cell phone in the museum?
We ask that you turn off or silence your cell phone while in the galleries. Cell phones may be used in the Museum Store, North and South Courtyards, and Allan Houser Art Park.
What happens if I lose something in the Museum?
Any items found in the museum are turned into the security office. Items are logged in and kept for 30 days. After that, they are donated to charity. Call museum security at 505.428.5905 for more information.

How can artists or independent curators get their work exhibited at MoCNA?
Artists and curators are welcome to submit images and exhibition proposals for review at any time. Visit our Opportunities page for guidelines. Our chief curator will review any materials sent and follow up with the inquirer as needed. Please submit inquiries to

How do I arrange to see a work of art in your collection not on view?
Qualified scholars and Native Americans may request to see works not currently on view by appointment, depending on staff availability. Appointments should be made by email at least one month in advance. Additionally, individual and group tours of our collection facility are available. In either case, a formal letter of interest should be emailed to collections@iaia.edu.
While the online collections search is being developed, you may make an appointment to visit MoCNA’s collection to research specific artists and/or artwork. Please email your request to collections@iaia.edu.
How can I find out the value of an art work?
As a Federal organization, MoCNA’s staff may not authenticate or make monetary appraisals or estimates on any works of art for any purpose. Reputable sources for this type of assistance include the Art Dealers Association and the Appraisers Association of America.
Can the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts restore my work of art?
No, but the MoCNA collection staff may assist with general questions about object care and maintenance and provide referrals to other resources. Contact collections@iaia.edu with specific questions.

As a member, will I be able to bring guests in for free?
Beginning at the Cutting Edge level, members receive complimentary one-time-use guest passes. Guest passes must be presented at the admissions desk. If your membership does not include guest passes, you can upgrade your membership to the level or higher, or you may purchase admission for your guests at the museum entrance.
What museums does MoCNA have reciprocity with?
Members at the Cutting Edge level and above receive the benefit of reciprocal membership with other art museums throughout the country through the North American Reciprocal Museum Program. Members at the Innovator level and above receive an additional benefit of a reciprocal membership with more art museums through the Modern and Contemporary Museum Reciprocal Program. MEDIA AND OTHER INQUIRIES
If I am a member of the media/press can I obtain special permission to film or photograph at MoCNA?
Yes. Media may request access to photograph or film special exhibitions, collection galleries, and the Allan Houser Art Park or building. Most film and photo shoots require supervision by a security staff person and may also require permission from the director of communications, curator of collections, chief curator, and director.
