SPRING 2010 Special Exhibtion: "Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, The Artist and His Circle"

Friday, May 7th, 2010, Lisa M. Reisman et Cie is launching a new exhibit featuring the art of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

The exhibit, entitled "Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, The Artist and His Circle," will feature original works from this famed, and sadly short lived, French artist. The boutique will have a little bit of everything; prints, posters, examples of his commercial work, and even pieces from his friends and colleagues, including Jules Cheret, Pierre Bonnard, and Felix Vallotton.

Original lithographs will be available for purchase at the gallery, and the exhibit will be on display through May 29th, 2010.

It was a great success!! La Fête du Savon!

To celebrate our second anniversary, we held our summer exhibition and sale of Art Nouveau and Art Deco chromolithographic labels created in Fin-de-Siecle France for the soap and perfume industries. La Fête du Savon was on display through July 31st.

		The opening Reception was on Wednesday, June 17th from 6 - 9 PM. Over 100 people braved the rain, lightening and thunder to view the exhibition, mingle with friends (old and new), sip champagne punch, and feast on decadent french pastries.	Circa 1896

La Fête du Savon is a rare blend of extraordinary design and original research, presenting Art Nouveau and Art Déco chromolithographic labels created in Fin-de-Siècle France for the soap and perfume industries.

“These labels provide a look into the glamour and aggressive elegance retailed to the élite women of Belle Époque Paris, and this exhibit places these items within modern context as a means of translating their impact,” Curator Michael Hartman says. “Considering that they were designed and produced as ephemeral objects, both the level of artistic detail and the fact that these pieces even survived is impressive.”

Although the special exhibition concluded on July 31st, the gallery maintains a wide selection of interesting specimens on hand for you to view and purchase.
