HBCU College Tour

In March 2015 NEED will host our Annual NEED HBCU Tour, a tour of 13 HBCU’s in Eastern and Southern US which is designed to expose 10th and 11th grade students to campus life and the value of attending an institution of higher learning, while providing them with a chance to visit historically significant landmarks.  The overall objective of the tour is to give future NEED recipients access to black culture as it exists within prominent black institutions and organizations.  This will be completed as a means to encourage, support, and motivate these students to pursue post-secondary education.

The Colleges & Universities

The NEED HBCU Educational Tour is a rite of passage for 10th and 11th graders that is also an invaluable learning experience outside the classroom. The Educational Tour enriches the students’ experience by allowing them to gain firsthand knowledge about their major or field of interest. Students have the opportunity to visit many of the top Historically Black Colleges and Universities which include:

  • Wilberforce University
  • Central State University
  • Tennessee State University
  • Fisk University
  • Tuskegee University
  • Morehouse College
  • Spelman College
  • Clark Atlanta University
  • North Carolina A&T University
  • Hampton University
  • Howard University
  • Cheyney University
  • Lincoln University
