If you're looking for the classic college visit — an information session and a campus tour — join us for a campus visit. Available year round, campus visits are customizable and offer one-on-one engagement: add on a class visit, an interview, and/or lunch with a student to make a day of it. These visits often serve as a first look at campus, but also work as a follow-up if your first visit only included a tour.

For a high-energy, comprehensive visit experience, consider joining us for one of our open houses. These day-long events include everything from panel discussions with students and faculty to sessions on admission and affordability. Open houses can serve as an introduction to Richmond, or as an in-depth option for a follow-up visit.

• Open Houses

All first-time visitors are encouraged to schedule a regular campus visit, which typically includes an information session (a 45-minute presentation by an admission representative) and a campus tour (a 90-minute walking tour of campus led by a current student).

Campus visits are usually held at 9:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on weekdays throughout the year, and at 9:45 a.m. on many Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters.

The University of Richmond offers only non-evaluative interviews; that is, there is no formal assessment made that affects your application for admission, and interviews are not required. Instead, an informational interview is a great opportunity for you to share your interests, explore Richmond as a match for you, and learn more about the University from someone who knows it well. Interviews may be scheduled either on campus with an admission intern or regionally with an alumni interviewer.

On-campus informational interviews are available to current and rising high school seniors by appointment from June to November, with time slots both before and after our regular campus visits (weekdays only). Slots are limited, so students are encouraged to sign up early. To schedule an on-campus informational interview, register online at least three (3) business days prior to your visit.

There's no better way to understand the depth of the liberal arts experience at Richmond than to sit in on a class. During the fall and spring semesters, you may choose to visit up to two (2) classes, in which you'll sit side by side with current Richmond students and meet professors who are knowledgeable in the subjects that matter most to you.

Scheduled class visits are available to high school seniors from mid-September to mid-November and to high school seniors and juniors from February until mid-April (priority of class space is given to seniors). Students must check in at the Office of Admission at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled class visit.

To schedule a class visit, register online. Be sure to sign up well in advance, as space is limited; you must register at least five (5) business days prior to your visit.

An opportunity for prospective students to eat lunch with a current Richmond student, who can talk about their experience at Richmond and answer any questions about student and academic life. Lunch takes place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. or from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Visitors meet their lunch host at the Office of Admission. Family members are welcome to eat in the Dining Hall; however, the scheduled lunch is for current and prospective students only.

To schedule lunch with a Richmond student, register online. Spaces are limited to two prospective students per Richmond student during an individual lunch. You must register at least three (3) business days prior to your visit; we are unable to accommodate walk-in requests.

Preview Richmond events are day-long open houses for prospective students and their families. The Office of Admission typically offers a Summer Preview for high school seniors and juniors; a Fall Preview for high school seniors, juniors, and sophomores; and a Spring Preview for high school juniors and sophomores. Designed to provide a thorough look at what makes the Richmond experience truly unique, Previews typically include a welcome from University administrators; sessions on admission and affordability; campus tours; lunch on campus; and panel discussions with current students, faculty, deans, staff, and admission officers on topics ranging from academics to student life to study abroad, community service, career development, research, and residential opportunities.

MOVE is a program for students of color and others who are especially interested in diversity and multicultural experiences. MOVE is designed to introduce you and your family to Richmond through a variety of perspectives on student life. Faculty, staff, and student panelists, along with multicultural affairs professionals and Richmond alumni, will share their experiences.
