How to Search
All searching is based on Sphider-Plus features.
Boolean
Use the AND or OR boolean options in the Fiddle With Your Results panel to control how multiple term queries are performed.
Substring Search
Use an asterisk to indicate substring queries.
*markdown
will find markdown and multimarkdown
apple*
will find Apple and AppleScript
*book*
will find macbook, bookcase and macbookair
Strict Search
Prefix a query with an exclamation mark to limit the search to the explicit word.
!work
will only find work and not workflow
Tolerant search
equalizes all forms of input characters. For example e, é, è, ê are all made equivalent.
Site Search
Prepend a query with:
site:bunsen.org
to get only results on Dr. Bunsen.
Search in Categories
The indexed sites are broken into categories to make filtering easier. To perform a search in a category, click on the category and then enter your search terms.

About NerdQuery
NerdQuery is built on top of Sphider-Plus, which is a fork of Sphider.
The current list of sites included in the search are:
Development
- BrettTerpstra.com
- Clark’s Tech Blog
- Dr. Bunsen
- Dr. Drang
- Macdrifter
- Veritrope
Workflow
- Better Mess
- Simplicity is Bliss
- Practically Efficient
Known Issues
When searching inside of a primary category like “Development” links will show the incorrect “See More” link. I’m not sure when this might be fixed but it didn’t seem like a show-stopper.
