Wii don’t want to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate with U

UPDATE (1 MARCH 2013): Capcom listened to its fans and they’ve just announced that they’re releasing a patch in April that will allow the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate players to play on servers from other regions, removing the dreaded server locks. Furthermore, the April patch will enable off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad as well, can you get any better than that?!

Brilliant, so I really shouldn’t have expected otherwise, but I was waiting to make sure. It looks like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U is online region locked, just like the original version on Wii.

Perfect!

I bought Monster Hunter Tri for Wii years back and played quite a bit of it, but it was a pretty huge disappointment not being able to play with others online. The Australian servers were deserted and even if I could find anyone to play with, I don’t know anyone in Australia who is a friend who plays Monster Hunter. I do have friends in the US who would love to play Monster Hunter with me, but since there’s all this region locking bullshit, that prevents me from getting the most out of this game and actually having awesome amounts of fun the game was designed for.

So yeah, fuck Monster Hunter 3 Unlimited, I’m skipping it along with the 3DS version since I’m not playing through what is essentially the same game that was on Wii with some bonus extras. I am pretty pissed off though cause I was looking forward to playing online since I’ve seen lots of videos of people playing online together.

…I was really starting to look forward to it, damn, shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up.
