KVITFJELL, Norway (March 2) - Travis Ganong (Squaw Valley, CA) led the U.S. Ski Team with a tie for 16th on a wind-ravaged Audi FIS Alpine World Cup downhill in Kvitfjell. Frenchman Adrien Theaux edged World Cup downhill leader Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway for the win on a shortened race course due to the high winds. It was the final downhill before the March 11-17 World Cup Finals in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Only the top 25 racers in each discipline qualify for Finals. Ganong, Marco Sullivan (Squaw Valley, CA) and Steven Nyman (Sundance, UT) are all top 25 for the USA.

- It was the final World Cup downhill of the season before the March 11-17 World Cup Finals.
- Only the top 25 racers in each discipline can start at Finals. Ganong, Marco Sullivan (Squaw Valley, CA) and Steven Nyman (Sundance, UT) have qualified for downhill.
- Sullivan was 23rd in the race, Nyman did not finish and Andrew Weibrecht (Lake Placid, NY) just missed the top 30 with 34th.
- A super G is scheduled for Sunday with the U.S. Ski Team starting nine racers including World Champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT)
- Universal Sports Network will broadcast the race at 11:30 a.m. ET

We skied okay, nothing spectacular. Sullivan actually skied the best he’s skied all week but didn’t throttle down hard enough. Ganong similarly skied ok, not probably pushing as hard as he could. But it’s also tough racing in the wind.
Steven’s been sick all week. He missed the training run yesterday and is just a little out of sorts.
Yep, he (Ted Ligety) landed yesterday after a great training block in Sochi. He’s all good and we’re ready to go. We’re going to go look at the course right now and hammer down. We have nine guys starting tomorrow which is the most we've had in the start for a while.
