Dean was inspiring…  He was really helpful in pushing the boundaries of my thinking.”

Dean Melbourne is both a Visual Artist and an Arts Education specialist. Dean is passionate about the role that timely and quality business training can play for early career creatives. Empowering people to be better rewarded for their talent and dedication to their specialism.

Equally Dean is  excited about the way that Visual Art Education techniques can liberate, rejuvenate and stimulate businesses and individuals that perhaps consider themselves not creative. Specifically teaching drawing to those that consider it beyond them to in-still confidence and an understanding that creativity is a set of skills that can be learnt not a inherent talents you are born with or without.

His passion for education in the arts was developed as a lecturer at Stourbridge College where he taught across a range of levels. In this role he learnt the skills of course development, delivery and evaluation while developing an approach that serves to demystify apparently complex ideas. This is very much in line with Creative Shifts ethos.

Dean went on to put these skills to the test in the gallery and Museums sector where he designed and delivered content to help the public engage with contemporary Art.

As an artist currently represented by Coates and Scarry Dean’s work is finding it’s way into some major collections. To see what he does visit his site here

[It was] great to have a fellow practitioner on board who understands the creative process as well as the business aspects….”
