Sutter Health Affiliates Earn Prominent Electronic Health Record Recognition

Two affiliates within Sutter Health’s not-for profit network received awards honoring their electronic health record. Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, Calif. and Palo Alto Medical Foundation clinics throughout the Bay Area earned prestigious Stage 7 Awards from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), an industry authority in health care information technology.
Sutter Health will receive its awards at the 2015 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on April 12-16, 2015, in Chicago.
“As we partner to deliver a high-value, personalized experience for patients, our electronic health record enables our care teams to make significant strides in clinical quality, safety, connectivity and efficiency,” said Sutter Health President and CEO Pat Fry. “These Stage 7 designations from HIMSS honor the complex, thoughtful work of our clinical care and information services teams to better support our more than 3 million patients and their families.”

Sutter Health Expands Health Plan to Sonoma County

Sutter Health’s health plan that serves the greater Sacramento and Central Valley areas, Sutter Health Plus, will now offer its competitively priced products in the Sonoma County community. The announcement comes after the Department of Managed Health Care approved the HMO’s expansion plans.
Not-for-profit Sutter Health decided to start its own health plan as a way to partner directly with patients to manage their total health needs, including quality and cost of care. Now, after a full year of operations, Sutter Health Plus is ready to offer Sonoma County the same affordably priced HMO products available elsewhere in its service area.
In Sonoma County, Sutter Health Plus’ network includes the new $284 million state-of-the-art Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital; Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation, including locations in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol and Healdsburg; Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods; and Novato Community Hospital in Marin County.

- The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accreditor of health care organizations, recognized 13 hospitals in the Sutter Health network as among the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures®.
- The Integrated Healthcare Association, a renowned industry leadership group in California, recognized seven physician organizations in our Sutter Medical Network (SMN) as leaders in medical care quality.
- Six SMN physician organizations that participated in the 2013 California Association of Physician Groups’ (CAPG) Standards of Excellence Survey each earned Elite status—the highest honor given.
- Fourteen Sutter Health hospital campuses also earned ‘A’ grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group® in its Fall 2014 Hospital Safety Score℠.
- Additionally, Sutter Health’s Sacramento Sierra Region earned recognition as one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems® by Truven Health Analytics.
