On January 14-16 I organized and chaired the annual Italian Networking Workshop, held in Cavalese near Trento.

Open Source Systems for P2P Streaming: visit PeerStremer the home of the streming system for research, entertainment and beyond, which we support in the aftermath of the EU FP7 NAPA-WINE Project. PeerStreamer is contributing to the CONFINE project with the experiments of the OSPS Open Call 1 project awarded to my group.

The web site of our Vehicular Networks Technology research line is now online with the Emergency Braking Simulator embedded in ns-3 available, and the relative literature.

Privacy in the global era is becoming a fundamental part of applications and network designs. The Pervasive Privacy project with Leonardo Maccari, funded by PAT tries to shed some light on the key issues.

For those who like skiing, have a look at my experience with skipass in Folgaria ... potete leggere anche in Italiano una interessante esperienza di gestione dei giornalieri a Folgaria.

Welcome to my home page! I am Renato Lo Cigno, Associate Professor at DISI (Dipartimento di Ingegneria e Scienza dell'Informazione), University of Trento, Italy, where I am one of members of the "Systems & Networks" Research Program.

Formerly I have founded the Networking Research Program which ended its original mission in 2010.

I was born in Ivrea, Italy, in 1963, where I studied until High School. I graduated from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) with a master degree in Electronic Engineering in July 1988. I worked in Politecnico, in the Telecommunication Networks Group (yes, you are right, networks are my research area!!) of the Electronics deparment until 2002. From june 1998 to february 1999 I spent a sabbatical period as a visiting scholar at the Computer Science Department of UCLA, where I worked with Mario Gerla and his Network Research Lab (yes, once again networks!!).

My research interests and in analysis, evaluation and design of telecommunications and computer networks, spanning from optical networks, to wireless, to overlays such as P2P an Anonymous Networks.

Apart from research and teaching, at the University I hold the position of Rector Delegate for Informatics and Telecommunication services, controlling policies and strategies for the development and implementation of ICT-based services at the service of the University life.

I am co-author of over 120 papers published in international journals and presented in leading international conferences, you can browse through my publications: many are available in PDF together with some slides.

I am member of IEEE and ACM, I served as Area Editor for Computer Networks (Elsevier), and I have been (and currently are) in the Organizing or TPC committees of leading conferences, from Infocom to Globecom to CoNext to MSWiM to P2P.

I am currently chair of the Steering Commettee of WONS, a small, focused, annual, IFIP and IEEE sponsored workshop on wireless, on-demand networks and systems.
