Organizations
Students studying in computer science are actively involved in many professional and social support groups.
These groups help students in a variety of ways, including career networking and professional advising.

IEEE Computer Society – With nearly 85,000 members, the IEEE Computer Society is the world’s leading organization of computing professionals. Founded in 1946, and the largest of IEEE’s 38 societies, the Computer Society is dedicated to advancing the theory and application of computing and information technology. Computing Research Association – The Computing Research Association consists of more than 200 North American academic departments of computer science, computer engineering, and related fields; laboratories and centers in industry, government, and academia engaging in basic computing research; and affiliated professional societies. National Society of Black Engineers – The National Society of Black Engineers, with more than 29,900 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 college, pre-college, and technical professional/alumni chapters in the United States and abroad. The student chapter adviser is Greg Singleton. UA Society of Women Engineers – The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders.
