About the Department
UA’s Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering faculty and staff are committed to preparing graduates for entry into the profession and conducting and disseminating relevant basic and applied research for the betterment of the state, nation and global communities.
As positive evidence of our successful efforts, consider these recent achievements:
- Currently, the Department enrolls more than 650 undergraduate and 60 graduate students, which is more than double our enrollment in 2003.
- Last academic year 2012-2013, the Department awarded more than 110 undergraduate and 32 graduate degrees, nearly triple of what was awarded less than five years ago.
- The Department has nearly doubled the size of the faculty since 2003.
- The faculty was responsible for more than $2.34 million in external research expenditures last fiscal year, which is more than twice the expenditures just five years ago.
- UA’s student chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Associated Builders and Contractors and Chi Epsilon (Honor Society) have each received local and national recognition for their activities.

The faculty and staff are committed to preparing graduates for entry into the profession, educating future leaders of the profession, and conducting and disseminating meaningful basic and applied research for the betterment of the state, nation and global communities.

Goals
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering will:
- Provide high-quality, innovative, and comprehensive educational experiences for our students
- Produce an increasing number of exceptional bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral graduates
- Increase external funding for sponsored programs that supports research of relevance
- Foster an environment supportive of excellence and innovation in education, research and service.
