Students studying in civil, construction and environmental engineering are actively involved in many professional and social support groups.

These groups help students in a variety of ways, including career networking and professional advising.

UA ASCE – The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 140,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is America’s oldest national engineering society. The student chapter adviser is Dr. Michael Triche. For additional information, visit the National ASCE Website.

UA ABC – Associated Builders and Contractors is a national association with 75 chapters representing 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with nearly two million employees. ABC’s membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry. UA Chi Epsilon – dedicated to the purpose of maintaining and promoting the status of civil engineering and was organized to recognize the characteristics of the individual civil engineer deemed to be fundamental to the successful pursuit of an engineering career. Membership is limited to juniors and seniors in civil engineering who rank in the upper one-third of their respective classes. The student chapter adviser is Dr. Ed. Back. Water Environment Federation – The Water Environment Federation is a not-for-profit association that provides technical education and training for thousands of water quality professionals who clean water and return it safely to the environment. Order of the Engineer – The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. Tau Beta Pi – Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. Faculty advisers are Dr. Robert Taylor and Dr. David Arnold. For additional information, visit the National Website.

UA Society of Women Engineers – The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Student Engineers in Action – SEA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. The student chapter advisers are Dr. Pauline Johnson and Dr. Philip Johnson.

National Society of Black Engineers – The National Society of Black Engineers, with more than 29,900 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 college, pre-college, and technical professional/alumni chapters in the United States and abroad. The student chapter adviser is Greg Singleton.
