Organizations

Students studying in electrical and computer engineering are actively involved in many professional and social support groups. These groups help students in a variety of ways, including career networking and professional advising.

UA IEEE Student BranchIEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The student chapter adviser is Dr. Patrick Kung. For additional information, visit the National IEEE Website.

UA HKN Delta Nu Chapter – Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) honor society is a unique membership organization dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in the electrical and computer engineering field. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) – UA’s student chapter for computer science. The student chapter adviser is Dr. Monica Anderson. For additional information, visit the National ACM Website.

Tau Beta Pi – Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. Faculty advisers are Dr. Robert Taylor and Dr. David Arnold. For additional information, visit the National Website.

UA Society of Women Engineers – The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. UA Engineers Without Borders – EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. National Society of Black Engineers – The National Society of Black Engineers, with more than 29,900 members, is one of the largest student-governed organizations in the country. Founded in 1975, NSBE now includes more than 394 college, pre-college, and technical professional/alumni chapters in the United States and abroad. The student chapter adviser is Greg Singleton.
