Supreme court puts archive of recordings of past cases online

May 6, 2015 | Leave a Comment

As reported in the Guardian Newspaper (6 May 2015), The Supreme Court is to make available  – until March 2016 at least – recordings of individual cases for temporary download.

“The video-on-demand service is intended to make an archive of cases available for up to a year. It will cover not only supreme court hearings but also those in the judicial committee of the privy council (JCPC), which sits in the same Westminster building and hears appeals from some Commonwealth countries, British overseas territories and crown dependencies.”

Recordings will be available via the Catch-up Service https://www.supremecourt.uk/news/catch-up-on-court-action-supreme-court-launches-video-on-demand-service.html

Magee Library – Swipecard access for exams – May 2015

April 26, 2015 | Leave a Comment

To help maintain a quiet environment during revision and exams, entry to Magee Library will be restricted from Tuesday 5th May – 22 May 2015. You will need your ID card to swipe the sensor on  the revolving door or on the sensor on the wall in order to gain entry. If you can’t find your ID card, you need to get a replacement  from Academic Registry. Ask at the Issue Desk first, as ID cards are sometimes handed in to Lost Property. If your ID card doesn’t work, you can get it reset at the Security Desk in Block MD (main building). Other registered library users, e.g. Step Up, Alumni or Sconul card holders should bring their Library card with them, press the buzzer above the swipe-card sensor on the wall and they will be let in by staff. Other members of the public with genuine research queries may also ask for entry at the front door. We regret that students from secondary or grammar schools are not permitted entry during this restricted period, unless they hold Step Up cards. We would ask for everyone’s co-operation to maintain a quiet building during the revision period. Please let staff know immediately if you are being disturbed by others’ inconsiderate behaviour.
