Systemwide Digital Library Services develops and manages a wide variety of information systems aimed at providing greater access to the collections and services of the CSU Libraries.

Our group actively researches, develops, and implements new technologies in the areas of information discovery, user-driven content acquisition, integration with learning management systems, and digital preservation.  We work with each library to customize each system to meet their specific needs.

Discovery Services
  • Xerxes is a simple, yet powerful, search engine that allows students and faculty to search over 800 million books, journal articles, and other research data.  It offers sophisticated citation management features, scholarly recommendations, and integration with learning management systems.
  • SFX provides a comprehensive knowledge base of each library’s electronic subscriptions.  When users find books and articles in Xerxes, or another research database, SFX provides seamless access to the full text.
  • Get It Now greatly expands a library’s e-journal collection by providing pay-per-view access to articles from dozens of scholarly publishers.

Digital Preservation Services

  • ScholarWorks is a suite of systems for archiving student and faculty research, institutional publications, library special collections, and other institutional data.

Projects

In addition to the major services we provide, our group is also involved in a number of other library and academic technology initiatives.  These include:

  • Directory of Special Collections
  • Affordable Learning Solutions
  • Fresca
  • LOFT Recommendations Report
