jen stark: the power of
martha otero gallery, los angeles, USA
on now until december 1st, 2012
miami-born and los angeles-basd artist jen stark has on display at martha otero a collection of her most recently completed rainbow artworks
comprised of wood, paper and other organic materials meticulously cut into sculptures. stark’s new three-dimensional series is comprised of rhythmic
and prismatic pieces as manifestations of her interest in mathematics, microscopic patterns in nature, wormholes, and sliced anatomy in ‘to the power of’.
the series draws in passersby as their initial glance becomes ensnared in the hypnotic psychedelic visual experience of each piece, lingering upon
the seemingly innumerable layers which build each work of art.

This is so entrancing. I so wish this level of artistry could be harnessed by other artists of her generation. The bright colors and strict shapes are truly admirable!
