Disney World Resort Discounts & Disney Hotel Codes

LAST UPDATE: 1/4/16

CLICK HERE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE DISNEY WORLD RESORT DISCOUNTS!

On this page you’ll find every known “room only” hotel discount at Disney’s resorts at Walt Disney World. We list Disney hotel promo codes that can save you a bundle, as well as other strategies that can help you get the best room rates at Disney World resort hotels.

Disney World resort discount codes must be thought of as a “clearance sale” — if you want the discount, you have to be willing to take what’s left over! It’s important to be flexible with both dates and hotels, and to be persistent in calling back periodically to see if anything has opened up.

All of the discounted Disney World hotel rates listed below are subject to availability and are per night, usually for double occupancy, unless otherwise noted. An extra charge may apply for additional adults in the room. Kids under 18 years of age are free of charge on a “room only” reservation.

Off-Season Rates

Disney has multiple “seasons” each year. Value Season is the least expensive and least crowded time, followed by Fall Season, Regular Season, Summer Season, Peak Season and Holiday Season. The various national holidays and the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend in January also have their own mini-seasons of 3-10 days, which will usually be somewhat more expensive than the surrounding dates. So the most basic way to save money on Disney’s resort hotels is simply to book in the off-season. There will typically be larger room discounts with more availability in the off seasons as well, which increases the savings considerably.

Each night of your stay will be priced separately, and you will be charged the applicable rate for that night. So for example, if the last date of Value Season is December 18 and you check in on that date, only that one night will be at the Value Season rates. December 19 and later will be charged at the higher Holiday Season rates. Plus, if some nights of your stay are weekend nights or part of a pre-designated holiday period, you’ll be charged the higher rate for those.

Disney Resort Discounts: Hotel Codes & Deals for the General Public

Room-Only Disney World Resort Discounts

Disney periodically offers room-only discounts to the general public. They typically become available 2-6 months in advance and are most often offered during the off-season, with major holidays, mid-summer and holiday weekends “blacked out” (excluded) from the offer. When such offers are released, we list them below.

Spring Room-Only Discount

Get a discount of up to 30% off stays at select Walt Disney World Resort resorts between February 22 and June 11, 2016!

The offer is broken into two “waves” with the first wave offering larger discounts and wider date ranges. The first wave covers the whole range (2/22/16 – 6/11/16) and has discounts of up to 30% (25% in peak spring break period of 3/15/16 – 4/13/16). Booking ends for the first wave on 2/28/16. The second wave booking begins 2/29/16. The second wave discounts are only for stay dates from 4/14/16 – 6/11/16 and the discounts are 5% lower.

You can extend your stay past June 11, but the days after the 11th will not be discounted. If you want to arrive before February 22, you will need to book a separate reservation for the days prior to February 22 and another beginning on February 22. You will only get this Spring discount on the second reservation, though you may be able to get a different discount on the first part as well.

Sample discounts off rack rates:

This is a room-only offer but it can also be booked as a package by adding tickets, which would make it subject to package rules.

Offer excludes Port Orleans – French Quarter, Bay Lake Tower, Bungalows at Polynesian Bungalows & Villas, Little Mermaid (i.e. Standard) rooms at Art of Animation Resort, Fort Wilderness cabins and campsites and 3-bedroom villas. As with all Disney promotional discounts, some resorts, room types and date combinations will not be available. It’s important to be flexible if you want to book a discounted room.

Book by 2/28/16 for “first wave” savings. Book by 3/31/16 for “second wave” savings.

  • To reserve a room with the Spring discount, first check the Online Travel Agencies for extra discounts that can be stacked on top of the Disney discount. Or you can call the Disney Reservations Center at (407) 939-1885 or contact a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel and request the Spring offer.

Online Travel Agencies

For room-only bookings, using a discount code at an online travel agency will often provide the very best bottom-line price you can get on a Disney resort room. It’s definitely more work than using a full-service travel agent, but if you’re comfortable doing your own research, the savings can be worth it. Be sure to read the caveats in this section carefully, and compare different options before booking.

Unlike a full-service Disney Specialist travel agent, online travel agencies don’t offer any significant service — this is a strictly do-it-yourself option. With online agencies, changes and cancellations may be a hassle, and they may charge fees for changes or cancellations. Be sure to read ALL the small print as you make your reservation (which may require you to click on a link that says “terms and conditions” or something similar) so that you are clear on any cancellation and change fees. On the rare occasions when online agencies screw something up, it can be difficult to get the problem fixed, because you don’t have a single point of contact, as you would with a regular travel agent.

Online travel agencies sometimes offer add-on tickets that may sound like a good deal but usually aren’t the best choice. Be sure to check their bottom line ticket prices, including any taxes and fees, and their terms and conditions, against Undercover Tourist.

Once you’ve bought your room through an online travel agency, you’ll need to get the correct Disney confirmation number from that agency so that you can link your reservation to your online Disney account, in order to take advantage of the new MyMagic+ features, such as FastPass+. If you want to add Disney’s free Magical Express (airport bus transfer) service to your room reservation, you’ll need that Disney confirmation number again. Then either call (866) 599-0951 or fill out this form on disneyworld.com to book it directly with Magical Express.

CheapTickets and Orbitz

Be sure to read the information above about booking with online travel agencies.

CheapTickets and Orbitz are really the same company, but they don’t always offer exactly the same deals. When seasonal discounted room-only rates are offered to the general public, the same rates are usually also available online through both sites. Note that availability may not be the same between Disney’s own booking system and CheapTickets/Orbitz. They are booking from two different groups of rooms, so one can be sold out of a discounted room type when the other still has rooms available. For this reason, don’t assume that CheapTickets/Orbitz will have the same room rate as Disney’s discounted rates; you need to check to be sure. When they run out of discounted rooms, typically they’ll just quietly switch to rack rates.

CheapTickets or Orbitz often offer special discount codes that take a percentage or a flat dollar amount off your reservation. When there are no other deals around, this can be one of the only ways to get a discount on your Disney World resort hotel room. And when there are Disney seasonal promo discounts in place, usually the discount codes can be applied on top of Disney’s promotional discount! If there are any current discount codes, we note them below.

Note that they offer “room only” bookings. You cannot book Disney’s vacation packages through them, which means you cannot get the Disney dining plan (which, while popular, is not usually a good deal for most people). If you want a vacation package including tickets and/or a dining plan, click here to see current package offers.

The Disney confirmation code you’ll need for MyDisneyExperience and/or Magical Express is on the final itinerary page under “Hotel confirmation number.”

CheapTickets/Orbitz has a glitch in their programming that may overcharge for children under 18. Disney’s policy is that kids under 18 stay free, but CheapTickets/Orbitz transmits the booking to Disney with all of the guests listed as adults. This triggers Disney’s upcharge of $10-$25 per guest per night for more than 2 adults in a single room (though see below for exceptions), and also could cause hassles in linking your children’s tickets to your booking in MyDisneyExperience.

To avoid overcharges and other problems, book the room online first with just the adults, then call CheapTickets/Orbitz customer service, tell them Disney doesn’t charge extra for children, and ask them to contact Disney Wholesale Travel to add the children to the booking. They should be aware of this problem and know how to deal with it. Some people have had good results using the online chat feature to get this done, so that may be worth a try. (The process of dealing with their customer service is not always perfect; sometimes you’ll get a rep that doesn’t understand this problem, and our advice is to call back or escalate to higher-level support. So far we’ve had many reports of people being successful adding their children to the booking this way, and no reports of failures.)

Note that there is no extra charge for more than two guests at Fort Wilderness (Cabins or Campsites) or any of the DVC villas, so for those bookings there’s no need for any special tricks; you can just book any number of guests up to the total room capacity for the same rate.

  • Book through Orbitz and get an extra 15% off at any of the Walt Disney World resort hotels for stays through 6/30/16. Orbitz’s base room rates are generally the same as Disney’s discounted rates, and those rates can be further discounted with this special code. To find the official Disney hotels, search Disney World and 3 star or higher hotels. Be sure to type code TRAVELHAPPY into the form under “I have a promotion code.” Expiration is given as 1/17/16, but Orbitz codes often work for a few days beyond their official expiration.
