Putting Virginia's Future First
Virginia has a well-deserved reputation for good government and sound financial management. The Council is committed to maintaining the quality of life in Virginia and to enhancing the state's effectiveness in making the Commonwealth an even better place in which to live, work, and raise a family.
The Council helps state leadership develop an evolving roadmap for the future by:
Providing a long-term focus on high-priority issues facing Virginia
Creating government accountability and an enhanced focus on outcomes
Increasing government performance and transparency
Informing and engaging Virginians in a dialogue about the state's future
The Virginia Report 2015 Released
The Council's Virginia Report is issued annually to summarize performance data over the past year, to highlight challenges, and to provide analytic information for leadership and decision-making.
This year's report includes a recap of the state's performance on long-term priorities in workforce and the Governor's Enterprise Strategic Priorities, as well as improvements made to report cards and other assessment tools used to track progress on all high-priority issues. The report also outlines some of the continued economic challenges Virginia faces and highlights our recent status on a number of other important indicators.

October 2015 Council Meeting
The Council on Virginia's Future met on October 6, 2015 in the State Capitol. Much of the meeting focused on the state's progress with workforce development -- both current projects and new initiatives, including those created in response to the Council's last meeting in December 2014. Workforce development has been a key component of Council efforts since 2013 and is also a major part of Governor McAuliffe's New Virginia Economy plan.
Much more information on the meeting, including all materials presented, is available here.
