Arsenal faced Olympiakos in the Champions League knowing that only a victory by a two-goal margin would secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Arsene Wenger opted for both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in the starting line-up but played the Englishman on the wing rather than up front. By the end of the evening, the Gunners were through after Giroud’s hat-trick earned Wenger’s men a 3-0 victory.

Can they win the Champions League this season? Possibly not but at least they’ve managed to reach the last-16 once again. From there, who knows?

Saturday November 21 proved to be a day to forget for all of those associated with Arsenal Football Club, with a 2-1 reversal away at West Bromwich Albion leading to numerous questions being asked of a side that had hoped to avoid another grilling.

The Gunners have fallen under the microscope at regular intervals this season, with struggles in the Champions League – which may yet lead to an early exit at the group stage – and elimination from the Capital One Cup at the hands of Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday making for uncomfortable viewing.

Arsene Wenger has claimed that he would not be a happy man without football during Christmas, as it has become a part of him over the last two decades or so.

Many new managers coming to the Premier League have complained about the excessive amount of fixtures during the Christmas period. However, the manager like Wenger, who came to the English league in 1996, says that it has been a part of the English game and it adds to the drama. Many teams have lost to the title during this period mainly because they have been unable to cope with the large number of matches in a short amount of time.

Arsene Wenger is disappointed that Liverpool showed Brendan Rodgers the exit door. According to Wenger, Rodgers did a wonderful job at Merseyside and took the club forward during his reign and had the luck been on his side, he would have been able to taste glory in the top tier in 2013-14.

Liverpool looked almost certain to clinch the league during that season, only to be denied towards the end by the Blues who beat them in an extremely important game to allow Manchester City, which was no. 2 in the table at that stage, to attain the top spot. Continue reading →

Theo Walcott could never really play a very influential role for Arsenal in this season and this was due to injuries as the English player struggled just trying to stay in shape.

Arsene Wenger utilized the services of Walcott in 14 occasions as it was the amount of matches that the 26 year old player appeared in for Arsenal. This is a low quantity of appearances for a player who is or was being viewed as one of the most promising figures in the world of football but even though Theo Walcott did not play a very significant role in this season, Arsene Wenger announced that he has big plans for Walcott.
