José Mourinho has dismissed suggestions that John Terry is no longer the first team choices

Chelsea boss José Mourinho has dismissed suggestions that John Terry is no longer the first team choices that he has been for more than a decade.

Terry was recently dropped to the bench for the Champions League game againstMaccabi Tel Aviv. Chelsea’s disastrous form at the start of the season was thought to be the reason behind this decision from Mourinho. After securing a comfortable 4-0 win with Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill at the back, Mourinho went on to keep Terry on the bench for the crucial league encounter against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

His decision to keep Terry on the bench was viewed with surprise at the start of the game, but not many questioned it after the 2-0 win that was achieved with Zouma and Eden Hazard on the scoresheet. Now, many believe that the time of Terry has come to an end, but Mourinho says that it is not the case and that the 34-year-old is still his important player. Terry signed a 12 month extension to his contract only in the summer. He will consider his future in the next few months with speculation that the former England captain made decide to join the MLS for one final hurrah. Continue reading

Eden Hazard says that he has had several arguments with manager José Mourinho

Chelsea star midfielder Eden Hazard says that he has had several arguments with manager José Mourinho, but he has ruled out any issues with the Portuguese. Just like in any other relationship, the manager and the player have had some disagreements that especially cropped up in the 2013-14 season.Hazard was publicly criticised by Mourinho for being responsible for the 3-1 semi-final defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The failure on the part of the Belgian to track his opponent led to several goals. Since then,Hazard has been a player transformed and the 24-year-old managed to win a clean sweep of all the individual accolades last season.

The newly crowned PFA Player of the Year refused to rule out the lack of disagreements in his relationship with Mourinho, but he thinks that the Portuguese has made him a better player overall. In the 38 league matches last season,Hazard came up with 14 goals and an impressive nine assists. He was one of the players to have played in every match of the league. Mourinho has constantly stated thatHazard will be forgotten if he does not make an impact in every match he plays. After an inconsistent couple of seasons,Hazard says that he is now making an impact in every match. Continue reading

Thibaut Courtois made his return to Chelsea

In June of 2014, Thibaut Courtois made his return to Chelsea as the Belgian goal-keeper ended his loan deal with Athletic Madrid and sparked a shockwave in Stamford Bridge and the Premier League as the 22 year old player is arguably one of the best players of the top tier league with sublime performances in every match he plays in.

The remarkable season that Courtois is going through is great news for Chelsea as the club has only conceded 26 goals in 30 matches but at the same time this also brings negative consequences for other players who have had to be sidelined for the majority of the season and Petr Cech is the player who has had his spot snatched away from him.

Rumors are now claiming that Chelsea are prepared to sell Petr Cech and have placed a price tag of €10 million for the experienced shot-stopper who is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Petr Cech has a contract with Chelsea which extends until the end of the 2015-16 season but if the contract could be terminated depending on the situation of the player and the club. If Mourinho wants to sell Cech, then he could be offloaded and it does seem like Cech will be exiting Stamford in the summer transfer window as the player has already stated on a number of occasions that he wants to join a club where he can have a secured regular starting spot. Jose Mourinho wasnt completely wrong

A lot of people might not agree to Jose Mourinho’s statements that he made in the press conference after his team’s away game against Southampton last weekend, but, what he said was not completely wrong.

Well, he is someone who speaks pretty directly and that’s why, he does not sound good at times, but, if he thinks that something wrong is being done to  his side deliberately, he has every right to speak about it.

It was a clear case of penalty when the Southampton player Matt Targett fouled that evening at St Mary, but, the referee made the call against the Blues and this is not the first time that Chelsea has got such a decision in the ongoing league. It has happened to them many a time.

For Instance, during the game versus Manchester United, their players were frequently being shown yellow card, while, the Red Devils were getting away and even that day, Mourinho had looked dissatisfied with the referee’s decisions.

The Portuguese had not come down hard that day though while he faced the media. He had maintained his cool, but, not on Sunday. He was absolutely fuming and very clearly said what he felt.

He has obviously been criticized by the supporters of other clubs and also by some of the former footballer who believe that the match officials have been fair in all the games, but, it’s important for people to understand that Mourinho has reacted this way after getting a number of bad decisions.

If the penalty was given to Fabregas, there was 90% chance of Chelsea getting ahead in that Southampton game and winning it.

Similarly, if Chelsea had not been reduced to 10 players at Old Trafford, they might have won there as well. So, the referees’ decisions have cost Mourinho points and no manager in the world would like that.
