Welcome to the Sage Development Organization Page

To get an account, read the trac guidelines, then send an email to sage-trac-account AT googlegroups DOT com that contains all of the following:

  • your full name
  • the default username is the first letter of the surname followed by the name (i.e. mjohnson for Mike Johnson or tlei for Tan Lei). If you really want something else you can make a reasonable suggestion some examples
  • contact email
  • and reason for needing a trac account.

Your trac account also grants you access to the sage wiki. (The process is complicated because both trac and our wiki get massively spammed the moment we make account creation automatic.)

Make sure you understand the review process, and the procedures for opening and closing tickets. See the Developer's Guide for more information.

About

Sage is free and open software that supports research and teaching in algebra, geometry, number theory, cryptography, etc. Both the Sage development model and the technology in Sage itself are distinguished by an extremely strong emphasis on openness, community, cooperation, and collaboration: we are building the car, not reinventing the wheel.

This web page lists both bugs in Sage and ideas for features to add to Sage. Please help Sage development by posting extensive information about all bugs you know of or find in Sage here, no matter how trivial.

Special Wiki pages for certain topics

This is a list of special places where types of tickets are grouped together for convenience

  • Symbolics
  • Algebra
  • Cygwin(64) Port
  • Other Ports
  • Sage-Combinat
  • Your addition?

Upstream bug trackers

Bug tracking pages of various projects which are contained in Sage:

  • Cython
  • fflas-ffpack
  • GAP (needs account)
  • GCC (instructions)
  • Givaro
  • JMol
  • LinBox
  • Maxima
  • Numpy
  • PARI/GP (instructions)
  • Python

Formatting hint for bug reports

Please use the {{{ and }}} tags to add code snippets and Sage session transcripts. For example:

{{{
sage: 1 + 2
3
}}}

displays as

sage: 1 + 2
3

You can enable syntax highlighting in these code snippets by using a hashbang (#!) followed by the name of the syntax; for example,

{{{
#!python
def spam ():
    eggs = 3
    return 1
pine_for_fjords()
}}}

displays as

def spam ():
    eggs = 3
    return 1
pine_for_fjords()

This also makes inline diff viewers if you choose the syntax name diff:

{{{
#!diff
# HG changeset patch
# Date 1300721936 0
foo

diff --git a/bar b/bar
--- a/bar
+++ b/bar
@@ -1,2 +1,3 @@
 baz
 quux
+xyzzy
}}}

displays as

You can also use backticks (`) to demarcate inline code snippets, etc. This is useful around names like DiGraph to avoid an automatic wikilink (DiGraph?), like so: `DiGraph`. This can also be done for non-code names like MoinMoin (the name of the software behind the sage wiki) by prepending an exclamation mark: !MoinMoin.

Browse Open Issues and Review Some Patches!

Use various reports located at trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/report to browse open tickets. Of particular note, reviewing tickets should be a high priority, because these tickets are typically almost ready to close with little effort. This is accessible from any page in Trac, by the "View Tickets" button.

If you are logged in, one particularly useful report is this one, which gives all open tickets you've somehow participated in.

Here are the public bug reports from the notebook interface.
