Founded in 2003, Cuberis is a web development and graphic design firm that focuses on museums, cultural institutions and forward-thinking brands. We specialize in websites, design and digital experiences that elevate our clients’ brand, engage with their users and foster future growth.
Our clients are national and international but, like us, some of them have deep roots in the Raleigh/Durham area, too. We’re a curious bunch who have joined forces to make websites much more effective for our clients.
Adam and Ray worked for a company in Hillsborough, North Carolina that distributed Magnetic Poetry. Ray was a designer and Adam was a developer.
Ray had ideas, concepts and a desire to make things beautiful. Adam had development skills, strategy and a knack for problem solving with technology. Working together they realized they wanted to start their own company.
In 2003 Cuberis was a two-man operation that was run out of Ray’s living room in a converted tobacco warehouse.
Today the Cuberis office is bustling with 11 employees in the beautiful, historic Golden Belt complex – a former cotton mill – in Durham, North Carolina.
The Cuberis team is composed of designers, developers, marketers, strategists and producers who are passionate about building smart, effective websites and digital experiences. Our primary focus these days are on our museum clients, but we still love working on unique local/national brands.

The first question we needed to answer as a startup in 2003, was where to call “home”. Raleigh sounded like fun, but rumor had it Durham was quietly rebuilding its downtown. We had to check it out. So, after speaking with a few Durhamites it was obvious that the residents here are prideful, fiercely loyal locavores who love to see local businesses thrive.
Cuberis first opened its doors in a converted tobacco warehouse repurposed as artist lofts. Several of our first clients were entrepreneurs migrating to the downtown area to take part in Durham’s revitalization. In 2010 we outgrew our first home and moved to the converted cotton mill at Golden Belt.
The urban renaissance in Durham constantly gains national attention reaffirming the pride Durhamites have for their town. This vibrant, exciting, city oozes with culture and creativity, all of which is infectious to those of us who call it home. We’re glad it has rubbed off on our little company and we’re honored to work with so many local companies who have been instrumental in the rebirth and revitalization of Durham.
We’re proud to call Durham home, but even prouder to say that we have expanded to work with not only local businesses, but national museums and international institutions as well.
