Over $1 Billion
CTBTO Member States have spent $1 billion on setting up the CTBTO verification regime.
“We had no certified facilities in 2000 and today we have 271,” said Tibor Tóth (bio), CTBTO Executive Secretary, in 2012.
“This investment in verification is an expression of the perseverance by the international community in the Treaty,” added Tóth.
“During the last 10 years we moved from ratification by 50 countries to more than 150.”
The organization: 2014 budget, US$ 121.9 million; approximately 260 staff.
Promotion of the Treaty and build-up of the verification regime is being undertaken by the CTBTO, whose headquarters are in Vienna, Austria.
