Katherine Hagedorn, professor of music and director of Pomona's Ethnomusicology Program, died at home on Nov. 12, 2013, after a prolonged illness.

Adam Minter, Shanghai correspondent for Bloomberg World View, will deliver a talk at Pomona College titled, "Junkyard Planet: Adventures in China and Beyond—Tracking the Global Billion-Dollar Trash Trade," discussing the politics, ethics and economics of the recycling business.

The 4th Hackathon was a resounding success with 335 students registered and more than 60 teams making it through the night to present their ideas. President David Oxtoby was on hand for the presentations.

Pomona-Pitzer Athletics saw the Volleyball team and Women's Soccer team end the season in second place in the SCIAC, Men's Cross Country team finish a close second in the conference championships, and the Men's Water Polo team pick up a win.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's Suzan Lori-Parks' In the Blood, a modern tragedy inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's literary classic The Scarlet Letter, will be performed at Pomona College. The play is directed by guest director Kenshaka Ali.

This week in Pomona-Pitzer Athletics saw the Men's Soccer and Volleyball teams both go undefeated and pick up important SCIAC wins, while the Women's Soccer team bounced back from a tough loss to secure its hold on one of the top spots in the conference standings as well.
