TRECVID Multimedia Event Detection Evaluation Track

Description

The Multimedia Event Detection (MED) evaluation track is part of the TRECVid Evaluation. The goal of MED is to assemble core detection technologies into a system that can search multimedia recordings for user-defined events based on pre-computed metadata. The metadata stores developed by the systems are expected to be sufficiently general to permit re-use for subsequent user defined events.

In 2012 and 2013, Multimedia Event Recounting (MER) was evaluated separately. Thereafter, it was combined into the MED evaluations.

MED15 will be the sixth evaluation following the 2010 MED Pilot, 2011 MED, 2012 MED, 2013 MED and 2014 MED/MER evaluations. MED 15 will implement several changes. Please visit the web site for further details. Data will go out to participants who have signed the data licensing agreements beginning in the April 2015.
