Frequently Asked Questions
Considering attending but have a few queries? You may find the answers you're looking for below!
Who can attend the Graduation Ball?
This prestigious event can be attended by all Birmingham City University students who are leaving/graduating this year.
Can I bring a friend?
Each student can purchase up to 4 tickets. Your 3 guests do not need to be graduating or studying at Birmingham City University, but we will require their name at the point of seating allocation. Please note, you will be responsible for their conduct at the event.
Where can I purchase tickets?
Tickets can ONLY be purchased online.
Where do I collect my tickets from?
You don’t need to worry about collecting your tickets, as you will receive an e-ticket when you buy a ticket online.
How do I arrange to sit on the same table as my friends?
To arrange seating with your friends - nominate someone in your group as Group Leader.
The Group Leader should collect the names and 8-digit transaction reference numbers (clearly stated on your e-ticket) and Menu Options of everyone sitting in their group. Using these details they must login to www.bcusu.com/gradball to create a seating group, allocate seating and specify menu choices.
Please note: there are a limited number of 12-seater tables, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. All other tables seat 10 people, for capacity reasons smaller groups will be seated on shared tables.
What if I change my mind about the seating arrangements?
It’s absolutely fine! Group Leaders (students who created the seating groups originally) are able to make adjustments.
What happens if, after I have bought my ticket, I can’t go?
We appreciate that circumstances can change and there we can offer a 75% refund up to 4 weeks before the event. A 50% refund is available up to 2 weeks before the event. After this, no refund can be given.
Our course finishes in July. Can we have a separate Graduation Ball?
Our intention is to celebrate the achievements of all our final year students at one event. We appreciate that different faculties and campuses finish at different times however we are inviting all these students to attend.
What should I wear to the Graduation Ball?
The dress code is dress to impress. That means suits and dresses – it really is an occasion to dress up for, so go for it!
Will Halal food be available?
Yes, there will be a Halal main course available for you to order when you confirm your seating arrangements.
I've been on a placement year and can't login. What should I do?
Don't worry. If this has happened to you, simply email union.website@bcu.ac.uk and we will sort it out for you.
