Programme and Its Implementation Pattern:

In order to meet the specific objective EDS is operating Child rehabilitation centers in three locations as mentioned above. The programme is funded by the Labor welfare department. The children in the age group of 9-14 years who are working as child laborers in the district are identified through the survey conducted by the Labor Department. Those children are admitted at the Child Rehabilitation Center. In one batch 50 children are admitted for the period of 3 years. The center aims at providing primary education to all the students in the duration of 3 years.

At the same time the programme also envisions to provide vocational education to the children. However, the budget of the ministry provides only for a teacher and no costs are covered for providing equipments or tools to teach the students. The budget grant by the ministry provides for the nutritious diet; however EDS feels that a separate cost head must be provided for routine health check up of each child.
